Thermal shield

Must be painted black from both sides. Removes heat that is created when Sun is near the axis and is focused on the electronics. Prevent overheating of the electronics in such a condition.

Thermal shield also serves as spatial light filter. Prevents stray sunlight from entering the receiver PIN diode.

This one is still unpainted. The shiled looks exactly like this when it's cut away as waste material during the manufacturing process of front cap.
